MW HOCKEY conducts a series of evaluation sessions to determine the ability level of your player. The information gathered from the evaluation is used to form a team with a similar ability for the upcoming season.

Our Team Placement sessions include an Individual Skills and Game Skills Component for the Novice category. For and Atom and Peewee aged players, Game Skills are used to give players a chance to excel.

All MW HOCKEY Goaltenders are evaluated using a  3-on-3 session, and game situations to determine their best placement for the upcoming season.

Evaluations and the subsequent placement of players onto teams can be a stressful process at times for players and their parents. More often than not, it is due to the uncertainty of what evaluators are looking to see from each player during the individual skills sessions, the compete sessions and during the scrimmage games portion of the process.

Evaluations can also be marred by rumours, misperceptions and lack of communication.

This is the reason why MW HOCKEY places the entire process on our website so a clear understanding of how players are sorted through the skills sessions and the system of scoring used by Evaluators during the Compete and Game Sessions can be explained.

Our goal is to give everyone a chance to see the process from the beginning to hopefully give you and your player a better vision of how teams are formed.
